Andrew Wyeth – Christina’s World
The above painting by Andrew Wyeth is titled “Christina’s World.” It shows a woman named Christina Olson, who had an undiagnosed muscular deterioration that paralyzed her lower body, dragging herself across the ground to pick flowers from her garden.
I often focus on sexuality and creativity outside of norms, perceived “ideals”, and “perfection”. Notice how thin her right arm is (similar to the woman’s arms in John Currin’s painting in the previous post).
