i’m not a very paternal kind of human being, but i like these photos… especially the one way up at top. that’s my fave. very fun and sweet.
thank you dysamoria
Well, you got me all Welled UP!!!
Thanks.. I needed it!
Have been Too Inhuman for Quite a While….
Thanks For Getting me Back..
Ra.
Your post was an inspiration to us, so here is what we did in return
i think these are absolutely beautifu
I just stumbled across this, looking for references for fawns, for a painting I’m doing for a Nursery. I think they’re beautiful. And… Thank you for the shot of your stretch marks! Mostly for what you wrote about them. I’ll never think of mine the same way. I even called my 26 yr old daughter in (also a mom) to read it. SHe thought it was great! Thank You!
Thank you Joyce for the kind thoughts. To not take improper credit, I’ll mention that none of the images are of me or mine; but rather, they were created by the brave and talented artists referenced with each photo. Best wishes.
Fantastic pics. Always wanted to make pics of this sort. If you like, you can (please!) drop into my flickr. I think you search flickr for ‘rruttan.’ I’m trying to get (AHEM!!) serious about making pictures and am eager for feedback. Shameless self-promotion, eh?
I love the bottom picture, of the woman and child in the river. It’s beautiful.
This is a wonderful site it reminds me of all three of my children. It really sings life and all its potenial. It’s awsome. Thanks for sharring.
Robert
Hello. I loved your photo of your stretch marks and your ode to them. That was beautiful. You must be a very old soul. Congratulations on the birth of a wonderful baby.
I liked the b&w photo of the mother taking her child for a dip at the shore line. I think that they are beautiful together. Also, I like that the b&w nature of the photo dampens any possible thoughts of sexuality and allows the viewer to focus on innocence of the mother-child relationship. Nice job. Brave woman too, most would not want to display their unclothed likeness, which I completely understand.
SIA: Thank you. Yes, it is so symbolic in so many different ways, and it is one of the best photographs I’ve ever seen.
I was doing a research project on you for photography, and come across these photos. I think that they are so inspiring, and inspirational. I also think that they are absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for everything that you do.
What beautiful photos and verse! I have always wanted to be a mother and was beginning to have fears about it (more to do with the world of today than the whole process), thank you for making me feel brave about it again!
This is an incredibly beautiful and touching series of photos. I’d forgotten the wonder I felt as my sons grew inside their mother so many years ago. But the photo of the stretch marks, and the commentary accompanying it, are absolutely the best. I shared that with my wife, and after 14 years her stretch marks are no longer embarrassing, but something to be proud of. I can’t thank you enough for that.
I love you and baby
It’s all so beautiful. The marks on the belly are proof of a woman’s love.
I just love your pics.. specially the last one!!
and when she has the white dress.
These pictures are so beautiful! Very touching

OneMoreOption: Thank you Samantha. Yes, all those photographers created extraordinary work.
the one of the mother and child is beautiful as is the poem about the stretch marked tummy of love.
I’m a woman, I’m a mother – must definitely leave a comment! Maternity is such a huge event in our lives… Feel there are endless possibilities of moments to capture, all incredible. These portraits are so nice, make me reexperience! Love the one “How we got here” and then the next one (whole body) with the natural smile and the hair held just like we all do any given moment… then the one with the belly: a straightforward cry out loud in evidence – evidence of having experienced one of the most incredible and sublime events in life – having nurtured and protected a new human being forming inside you (lines written below the portrait are indeed beautiful)… And of course, the last one, more nature’s own beauty in expression! Beautiful…
This is beyond expression in words. I stared at the photo and just felt it. I am in tears. Thank you so much. In the face of every child is the possibility of redemption for a fallen world.
Namaste
tooooooooooooooooooooo nice
I am not so good in English, but I could copy part of Joyce`s writing…, as I`ve found this images by looking for fawn for the same reason – images for Nursery
and I discovered this beautiful writing…!!!
Thank you
Mum of two..

This is really artistic and express how we born
wonderful. the last one was so beautiful,i’m just thinking about the mothers. nice feeling
I think the pics of the lady through the see through camisole is disgusting and should not be shown. Some things should be left private.
Blazay,
I’m sad for you. I was raised with that mindset.
I was sitting here crying after reading the piece with the “stretch-marks” photo, basking in the little moment of inspiration and all the glowing comments from those who felt as I did. Then I hit your comment and it was like, “thump” -hit the ground.
@ Blazay. Wow, you seem to be a very bitter person. Why can’t you just appreciate it as art? I think its a beautiful image of how amazing woman can be and how their bodies change when creating life. If seeing a half naked woman is “disgusting” you need to learn to be not so close minded.
I am very in love with these photos- each is unique, beautiful and very captivating. Together- these photos tell a beautiful story of life..***
It’s beautiful photos and artistic

As far as the “Beauty of creation”, the theme of this blog, the last (bottom) image, which apparently has no title, is without a single doubt, the most compelling.
THIS is the “photo” that should have been titled “From Whence We Came”…all the other images are self-indulgent snap shots.
OneMoreOption : Now this is what we were recently discussing about attempting to separate the “message” from the “medium” (in that case the “medium” being music; the same rule applies to all art forms).
Here we have a perfect synthesis of the metaphor (ergo; the “message”. Water, from which all life evolved. No water. No life) AND the aesthetics of producing such a message. Without the “message”, the “medium” has failed.
And again, the “artist”, professional or not, may have been completely unaware of the message : Artists simply don’t always know WHY they are creating, they just do it.
And keep their fingers crossed. Hoping they’ll find the metaphor that resonates with all (well…many, at least !)

“…In the face of every child is the possibility of redemption for a fallen world.”
“Philosophically” tempting. Maybe… but no, I don’t think so.
The evidence is not there.
You have to go a decent library, for one day, 8 hours straight, minimum…
…READ HISTORY ONLY…
DO NOT READ OFF YOUR COMPUTER !…No points for that/will not apply to your grade.
Then sit on your hands and pray…Even if you’re an atheist.
You will not find “redemption” in a child’s face, not a hint of it.
Hope. Maybe. Only maybe.
Spielberg’s “A.I.” was a wake-up call, people, not a pleasant treatise on a “sweet little child robot”
And “hope” will most definitely not exchange for hard currency in your local bank…
…or preempt the weight of history.

omo: “You may be right. I may be crazy. But it just may be a lunatic you’re looking for.” ~ from Billy Joel’s “You May Be Right”
The temptation of “the messiah that will come to us as a baby” is longstanding.
There is often an unreasonable hope we repeatedly keep placing on “the next generation.”
“Innocence” – a name we give to children before they begin repeating our patterns.
“A.I.” is a treatise on attachment and detachment problems – for children and adults, biological and artificially intelligent creatures. The “Hope” of being reunited with what we did not want to lose.
You are correct that history and data suggests our children will not become the primary source of our redemption. Yet, when we are unwilling or unable to create redemption for ourselves – unreasonable hopes spring eternal.
I don’t understand the overstatements of: “Do Not Watch T.V.” or “Do Not Read Off Your Computer.” The cautions seem overreaching. I believe I understand the good intentions behind such cautions, encouraging people to read books and to seek more trustworhty sources of information.

Ditto, except…
Don’t get me started on “A.I”
Runs a lot deeper than “dysfunctional bonding” or “attachment” disorders.
And quote:
“…encouraging people to read books and to seek more trustworhty sources of information”
…Answered your own question
Uh…so who is this “ederickjanz” ? What’s his real name and where can I find his photos. Or how did you find his photos ?
