Bruner - “Self Portraits With . . .”
Sometimes our self-portraits reveal the beautiful parts of ourselves we want to reveal.
Sometimes they reveal the beautiful parts we want to hide.
And sometimes our self-portraits reveal the people who are a part of us.
For more discussion of these concepts, view the comments section below.
There are only 2 posts today, and this is the only ‘visual’ post, because I wish to bring warranted attention to Ms. Bruner’s extraordinary works. The titles and comments below are the artist’s.

Other remarkable photographs there include “Self Portrait in the Making,” “Depression is a Bitch,” “Self Portrait # who knows,” and “Why do change of seasons have to suck so badly?” I also want to thank her for her courage & kindness in agreeing to share her emotionally intimate photos.

Ms. Bruner has created many different types of self-portraits on her website. I chose these particular photos because of how they related to some of the self-portraiture themes of recent posts. I love her strong colors and candor. Shauntel does not always hide or reveal the same things (as the above photos may incorrectly imply). So please do visit her work and give her feedback. Some artists enjoy feedback, and Shauntel has also been good about giving feedback in return.
