Edvard Munch – Screams & Silences, Part 2 of 2
Edvard Munch is most famously known for a series of expressionist paintings “The Scream.” He painted at least 4 versions of The Scream:
“I was walking along a path with two friends—the sun was setting—suddenly the sky turned blood red—I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence—there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city—my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety—and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.” – Edvard Munch
I have admired his paintings of “The Scream,” but as much or more I have admired his paintings of “silences”:

this is really inappropiate i mean showing naked people online
this is far from inappropriate!!
if art disturbs one then definitely do not get a computer, turn on the television OR go to a cultural museum. This is a very sad comment for such a tame and educational page.
exactly… it’s art!
For goodness sake, grow up!
the damn site says SEXUALITY in art.
nude women have been in art SINCE THE GREEKS.
it is a CELEBRATION.
also, keep in mind, you are SPEAKING OF MUNCH.
and naked women can be FOUND IN PORN AS WELL.
but the message is different.
be mature. put your doubts aside. see the color. and feel it.
well put… personally it opens up my heart (art not porn)
Too bad there isn’t some universal sign for sarcasm. Wowser was more than likely expressing it. I love the provocative and confronting nature of Munch’s work.
The paintings take my breath away. Honesty is never innapropriate.
P.S.
i also have a rather strong feeling that the anti-nudity comment was a joke. it’s okay, everybody.

OneMoreOption: Exceptional observations and implications. Gracias.
its a shame art isnt like this anymore.
im at art uni, and to pass, i am actually not allowed to be honest with myself.
they actually push me to do conceptual, abstracted nothing with a bad pun for a meaning and they tell me thats how to be honest, and pass the course, depressing.
i love painting with brutal honesty, with no holds barred, or bars held, what ever, i dont know, its almost, the early 20th century avant garde was to extract and that was hardley allowed (especially with the rise of fascism) and now, to do what they acheived, is the prime of art now, you dont get taught the human body, you dont spend 12 years perfecting the foot, you can be nothing, but have a silly idea. if this makes sense, im almost sick of it. invent me a time machine, and remember the name dougless from 1872-1945
The anti-nudity comment amusing whether it was serious or not. I think we provide a social service by condemning such neo-puritanical ideas. Remember: Liberal means free.
Douglas, I sympathize with your situation. Universities tend to discourage creativity. You will benefit from all of the art history you can get and technique of course. Get the hell out of there as soon as you can. Then develop your new portfolio and find a suitable MFA program. MFAs are much better about fostering creativity. Good luck.

OneMoreOption: Steve, thank you for your encouragement and advice.
I think he wosers was being sarcastic people
you get the online part
and how hardly anything online is not porn anymore
“i love painting with brutal honesty, with no holds barred, or bars held, what ever, i dont know, its almost, the early 20th century avant garde was to extract and that was hardley allowed (especially with the rise of fascism)”
It wasn’t just the Fascists (unless you buy Solzenitzen’s (sp?) contention that Coommunism was fascist). After a brief burst of creativity early in the Soviet period – which is the stuff they show in schools and exhibits – it wasd brutality repressed in favor of “Soviet Realism” – which you don’t see. Great stuff if you like pictures of collective farms and steel mills. Years ago I read a comparison of Soviet vs Nazi art ca 1930-1945; it was interchangable.
love your art work i want to bye some but my parents wont let till my birthday in a month!!!♥
It’s not the blogger’s art, titi. It’s Edvard Munch’s. Edvard Munch is NOT the blogger lol.

I would like to give you the benefit of doubt for above comment, but as one poster suggested, if you were being “sarcastic”, it doesn’t show in your syntax. If you were not being “sarcastic”, what are you doing on the site to begin with ?
You either :
A) …have a problem with “naked people” anywhere, or
B)…need to learn how to write.

edvard metterbrucken was his real name . he was called munch cos hde was partial to munchies
MUNCH was kind of like a pictorial hesse
I just discovered Munch, besides that screaming thing, and find him really provocative. It’s a shame that his brighter work doesn’t get as much attention as his tragic stuff, because it gives them needed context.
Am I the only one who finds Munch sort of the Bad Kirk opposite-identical of Karl Larsson, his contemporary and fellow Scandinavian?
Thanks for the naked people!
