Sexuality in the Arts

Many fine news organizations such as Inside Edition, Fox News, and New York Magazine are reporting that Angelina Jolie has given up her lesbian activity for the love of her man.

Jolie told French magazine Public, “I’ve never hidden my bisexuality.  But since I’ve been with Brad, there’s no longer a place for that or S&M in my life.”

Well, I think I can speak for some lesbians and bisexuals when I say:  “Huh?  What?!”

I’ve never been into S&M personally, so I have no idea what that group thinks of this breaking news.

She said about Pitt:  ”He lets me talk to whomever I want.  He has complete blind faith in me.”

Well, isn’t that nice that he lets her talk to whomever she wants.  That sounds healthy.

As far as blind faith goes.  You had me at “faith.”  You lost me with “blind.”   Faith loses it’s intelligence and appeal for me when it decides to wear blinds.

Stepping back and placing my kidding mostly aside:

I respect Angelina Jolie for her choices. 

I admire that she has identified herself as being bisexual.  I understand she has chosen to communicate clearly that she has put aside other affairs (lesbian or otherwise) for now while she is with her current partner.   I appreciate that she is at least publicly discussing her personal considerations.  Many people look to her ideas because she is more than just a mindless celebrity - her compassions and thoughts are clearly complex.  I appreciate that she is brave enough to be involved in the cultural discussions of monogamy, bisexuality, AIDS, Africa, adoption and other important issues.

If anyone would like to read reviews on books on the topics of bisexuality, monogamy, and other important sexual and relationship topics, then there are a few to read here.

Best wishes to you Angelina and Brad.  We respect and understand you may have stopped pursuing anyone else but each other, but hopefully that doesn’t mean we have to stop fantisizing about you.
