3 Kinds Of Beautiful Abilities

  ~ by OneMoreOption

There are more kinds of beautiful abilities than I know about.  Today, I’ll discuss 3 of them.

1)  The ability to recognize beauty.

2)  The ability to create beauty.

3)  The ability to be beautiful.

I’m not primarily referring to physical beauty.

The ability to recognize beauty:

Some people have the ability to recognize beauty.  People may believe that of the three kinds of beauty mentioned above, this kind of ability would be the most common, but my perception is that this may be the least common ability of the three.

There were so many beautiful things I saw growing up, things I valued and appreciated that it seemed most other people cared little or nothing about.   I saw beauties in people and artworks that others thought were of little worth.

And as regular readers might support, I feel the same way these days.  One of my primary vocations is trying to point out beauty that is being under recognized and under valued.  Often I’m referring to visually beautiful things, but more often I’m referring to things that are kind.

I will praise a kind person before I’ll praise a physically beautiful person.

The ability to create beauty:

Some people are beautiful and can recognize beauty, but they are not great at creating beauty.

I suspect most people are able to create beauty in a few mediums, but not as well in many other mediums.

Take an artist I love for example:  Roger Ebert.  I continue to be amazed at his ability to recognize beauty, to be a beautiful person, and to create beauty in his writings.  But there is an irony in his inability to create a widely admired and praised screenplay.  For all of his ability to intricately and comprehensively criticize others’ screenplays, he has not created a highly praised screenplay himself.

Even the most talented and beautiful characters have inabilities.

The ability to be beautiful:

I know many people who have little or no artistic aspirations to create traditional artworks or critique them.  Nevertheless, they are some of the most beautiful personalities I’ve encountered.  Some people focus on having a beautiful presence, character, and demeanor.

Personally, I don’t have much ability to create beauty, and I don’t have an above-average beautiful persona.  And I think those assessments are fairly accurate because the feedback I receive suggests I have an above-average ability to recognize beauty.

I feel I should work harder at creating beautiful artworks and becoming a more beautiful personality.  Those are challenges I put before me.

My cat is sitting between me and my keyboard, rubbing her furry head across my chin.  It’s the most socially and emotionally expressive arrow in her quiver.  Lucky me.

This last image of Ms. Taylor was taken by her friend Miranda, who is the subject of the marvelous video below.

Commentary:  Laura Taylor is one of those people who are so beautiful that other people may tend to under appreciate their artistic abilities.  There are some people who don’t want people who are so beautiful to also be so talented.  How can one person have so much?  Her friends and models feel at ease around her, they feel beautiful in her company . . . one more beautiful ability.
